DESCRIPTION:FREE Summer Fiddle Tune Jams for Kids & Teens\n\nJoin us for four Saturday mornings of fiddle tunes with legendary fiddle player Sandy Hofferth — for intermediate players and up.\n Saturdays: July 18\, 25 & August 1\, 8\n Doors open 10:15–11:45am\n Potter Violins Recital Hall\, 7711 Eastern Avenue\, Takoma Park\, MD 20912\n\n\n\nCome to all four\, just one\, or as many as you can make — we’ll learn a brand new tune each week! Students get the song a week ahead (via email/socials) as a link or mp3 to start listening and learning by ear.\n\n\n\n\nWhat we’re working on:\n Learning to play tunes by ear — and think on your feet\n Building confidence with Bluegrass & Old-Time tunes\n Playing together — cooperation\, not competition\n Making friends and having fun (the whole point of music!)\nPlus:\n Chord patterns\, song structure & jam etiquette\n A list of top 20 popular fiddle tunes to explore\n A taste of improvisation & soloing in Bluegrass jams\n Tips on where to catch (and join!) more local Bluegrass & Old-Time music\n\n\n\n\n\n Our instructor will teach melodies and demonstrate on violin/fiddle. Cellists and violists are welcome to play chords/bass or pick up the melody by ear. Beginners are welcome to come observe and listen quietly!\n Who can join: No fiddle experience required\, but students should be able to play these scales in tune\, by ear\, without sheet music: G & A (two octaves)\, and C\, D\, E\, F (one octave)\n\n\n\nRegister Here
