The firm of William E. Hill & Sons was established in 1880 in London, but their history goes back as early as 1762. Hill & Sons established a world-renowned reputation over the centuries for their expertise of fine instruments and restoration work, including having pioneered many restoration and repair techniques. Hill employed many makers to build instruments and bows, and was notably known for their excellent archetiers, who included James Tubbs, Samuel Allen, and others.
