Baptiste Juguera was born in Toulouse, France. His interest in violin making began at the early age of six. Juguera studied violin making at the French National Violin Making School in Mirecourt. Upon graduating in 2011, he began formally assisting Frederic Chaudiere. Juguera opened his own workshop in 2012 continuing to work with Chaudiere. Yann Poulain is a Montpellier violin maker who combines the Italian and French luthier traditions. He is a graduate of the Newark School of Violin Making in England and worked for Friedrich Alber and Frédéric Chaudière in Montpellier before opening his own shop there in 2007. He is a member of L’Association des Luthiers et Archetiers, the Académie Internationale de Musique de Montpellier, and the Violin Society of America, where he received a Certificate of Merit for Quartet Sound in 2012. Other awards include the First Prize for Viola Sound at the 2011 Fête des Luthiers in Montpellier and the “Excellence Artisinale” prize in 2013 from the French Chamber of Trades and Crafts.
