Luca Salvadori was born on March 1st 1962 in Poggio Rusco (province of Mantova). He is a graduate of the Violin Making School in Cremona, receiving his Diploma in 1982. Stradivari models form the primary inspiration of his work, and he has also developed his own models. His instruments have won multiple national and international awards, including Silver medals at the Bagnacavallo Competition in 1990 for a violin, and the VSA Competition in 2000 for a violin. His workshop is located in Cremona, Italy.
Award-winning maker Michele Dobner was trained in violin making in Milan under Luca Primon, and now lives and works in Cremona. Throughout his life he has studied great Italian instruments, and is particularly fond of creating quartets of instruments, looking for harmony in color and wood to create what he calls a “unicorn” sound. This violin, built in 2017, is resonant, sweet, and manages to sound both warm and bright. Available for trial in our showroom or via shipping.
After teaching himself to build instruments, Gaetano Sgarabotto moved to Milan to work with famed makers Riccardo Antoniazzi and Leandro Bisiach. He made many instruments for Bisiach throughout his life, and his journey took him through Vincenza, Brescia and Parma, collecting various influences along the way. Most of his models were based on Cremona patterns. We are honored to represent this gorgeous example of the great maker’s work with a certificate from Eric Blot and Hugues Paumier. Available for trial by appointment.

Bénédicte Friedmann was born in Rheims (France) in 1974. From an early age she showed an interest in and an aptitude for music. While attending the Conservatory she felt particularly drawn towards quartet instruments, and naturally chose to study the violin. After passing her school-leaving examinations she enrolled in the Musicology University to further her knowledge.
Having graduated in violin studies at the Conservatory she went on to graduate again in the viola in 1999, while at the same time studying at the Sorbonne in Paris, where she obtained an honors degree in musicology. During her studies Bénédicte developed a passion for stringed-instrument making, and it was this that prompted her to move to Italy in 1999 to attend the International School of Stringed Instrument Making (IPIALL) of Cremona. Studying under the guidance of Master Giorgio Scolari she graduated in 2002, winning the Ferraroni Prize (for the best student graduating in “Stringed-instrument making technique”) and the prize for the best thesis. After finishing her studies, Bénédicte developed her skills and style at the workshop of Maestro Eros Barcellari and Stefano Conia “Il Giovane” in Cremona.
Since 2007 she has worked independently in the historical centre of Cremona, specializing in the construction of violins, violas and cellos. In addition to taking great care over her choice of materials, Bénédicte gives special attention to the physical-acoustic aspects of her instruments, to ensure excellent sound quality.
