Originally from Illinois, Jamie Marie Lazzara moved to Italy at the age of 19 to study art restoration and violin making. After graduating from the violin making school in Cremona, she opened her shop in Florence. Notably, Itzhak Pearlman commissioned a violin based on his Stradivarius and played Lazzara’s instrument at the 2009 inauguration ceremony of President Barack Obama. Jamie continues to build modern and period instruments in her Florence workshop, and her instruments are played by renowned musicians all over the world. This violin, labeled Giorgio Grisales, Cremona 2019, is a stunning example of modern craftsmanship. Giorgio Grisales, a Colombian-born luthier who moved to Cremona in 1982, is renowned for his instruments that embody the rich Cremona tradition. As President of the Consorzio Liutai “Antonio Stradivari” Cremona, his work is highly regarded internationally. This violin, patterned after Guarneri, features a beautiful golden brown varnish that complements its exceptional tone.
