He is the son of Istvan Konya Senior and later Italianized his name to Stefano Conia as he established his career in Italy. Conia studied at the prestigious Cremona School of Violin Making, where he trained under renowned masters including Sgarabotto, Morassi, and Bissolotti, and later became a respected teacher at the same institution. Remaining active in Cremona, the historic center of violin making, Stefano Conia has earned international recognition and multiple awards for his violins, solidifying his reputation among modern luthiers, musicians, and collectors seeking fine contemporary instruments.
