Yann Poulain is a Montpellier violin maker who combines the Italian and French luthier traditions. He is a graduate of the Newark School of Violin Making in England and worked for Friedrich Alber and Frédéric Chaudière in Montpellier before opening his own shop there in 2007. He is a member of L’Association des Luthiers et Archetiers, the Académie Internationale de Musique de Montpellier, and the Violin Society of America, where he received a Certificate of Merit for Quartet Sound in 2012. Other awards include the First Prize for Viola Sound at the 2011 Fête des Luthiers in Montpellier and the “Excellence Artisinale” prize in 2013 from the French Chamber of Trades and Crafts. This fine instrument is available for trial via shipment and viewing in our showroom.
